Australia captain Pat Cummins on July 12 (Saturday) became the first Australian to complete a double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC). He achieved the feat during Day 1 of the pink-ball Test against West Indies in Jamaica.
He hit a quickfire 17-ball 24 coming in at eight, which included as many as three sixes. In doing so, Cummins joins India's Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to the landmark.
R Ashwin 1,142 runs & 195 wickets
Ravindra Jadeja 2,151 runs & 134 wickets
Pat Cummins 1,015 runs & 213 wickets
Cummins is the only bowler to have more than 200 wickets in the WTC, which came into existence in 2019. England skipper Ben Stokes (3,442 runs & 88 wickets) and Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1,314 runs * 87 wickets) could very well be the next in line to achieve this unique feat.
Stokes can very well achieve it in the ongoing series against India, while Bangladesh do not play a Test for the next few months.
Overall, Cummins has 307 wickets - one of just eight Australians to have 300-plus wickets in Test cricket.
