The Punjab Kings (PBKS) and South Africa star Marco Jansen is finally back after recovering from a finger injury sustained during the successful World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June at Lord’s.
He will be back in South African colours once again on English soil after he was picked in the Proteas’ T20I squad for the tour of England, which will consist of a three-match ODI and three-match T20I series.
Along with Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, part of the WTC Final playing 11, returns to the shortest format after missing out on the Zimbabwe Tri-Series and the three-match Australia series T20 squads of the national team.
David Miller and Donovan Ferreira, who are on franchise duties in The Hundred and who missed the previous two T20I series because of that, are also back in the mix. Injured Lizaad Williams also makes a comeback to the national set-up after having picked up the injury initially in October-November 2024.
"We were experimenting with the spin-bowling all-rounders in our most recent T20I series, and Keshav was always part of our broader plans. His return to the squad strengthens our spin options. Beyond his obvious skill with the ball, he brings calmness and leadership to the group,” head coach Shukro Conrad was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
After finishing the Australia tour, South Africa will land in England and begin the tour with the first ODI at Leeds on September 2.
