He might have retired from One-Day Internationals (ODIs), but Punjab Kings (PBKS)’ star overseas recruit Glenn Maxwell will continue to play List-A cricket, which is the domestic form of 50-over cricket.
It is weird that a player, having retired from ODIs, is willing to play List-A cricket. But in Maxwell’s case, he is going to prepare himself for the tour of New Zealand where the Aussies are supposed to play three T20Is, starting October 1.
The two matches that Maxwell will play for his state side, Victoria, in the Dean Jones Trophy, include one against Queensland and the other against Tasmania.
The last of Maxwell’s 149 ODIs came against India in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
"Maxwell, 36, has been named in Victoria's 14-player squad for their first two matches against Queensland and Tasmania at Allan Border Field on Wednesday and Friday respectively,” ESPNcricinfo reported.
Interestingly, the team against Maxwell will play his first 50-over game post ODI retirement, and will be led by Marnus Labuschagne.
