Praveen Dubey of the Gulbarga Mystics scored 53 not out in just 19 deliveries and helped his side chase down 210 against Mysore Warriors in the ongoing Maharaja Trophy, 2025.
Dubey, who plays for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a bowling all-rounder who primarily bowls leg-spin but can also tonk the ball. Against the defending champions, Mysore Warriors, the all-rounder tonked the ball a long way as he came to the crease at 140/3 in the 15th over.
Dubey, who plays his domestic cricket for Karnataka, smashed a six on the last ball when his team needed three runs to win the game. Remarkably, all his boundary shots in this innings were sixes as he smashed as many as seven sixes on the day. He was belligerent to say the least, and the Mysore attack, which had big names like Krishnappa Gowtham, just fell flat in front of him.
Ironically, he played just one game for PBKS this IPL, where he wasn’t even given a chance to bat. He only got to bowl two overs, and he picked a wicket there as well.
Dubey has been a regular on the Karnataka white ball side since 2016 and also featured in the IPL for the Delhi Capitals. He played four games for the Capitals, with three of them coming in the 2020/21 season.
With his batting improving and the result being there for everyone to see, the bowling all-rounder might be a popular choice for some teams come the mini auction ahead of the next IPL season.
