Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed jubilation after the Pakistan Shaheens delivered a commanding performance to beat India A by eight wickets in the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 in Doha.
Posting on X, Naqvi called it “a proud moment for Pakistan and for the Board,” and praised his young team for playing with “dominant, fearless, and unforgettable” spirit. “Superb cricket by our young guns, the future of Pakistan is shining bright. Congratulations to the nation,” he added on his X account, which is banned in India.
He emphasised the importance of the team’s mindset, calling their performance “fearless.” According to him, this kind of dominant effort shows that Pakistan’s future in cricket looks promising.
The Shaheens’ victory was decisive. They chased down a target of 137 in just 13.2 overs, finishing well ahead of schedule after stopping India A, who were doing quite well until the 10-over mark in the first innings. However, Pakistani batters didn't have many issues, as Maaz Sadaqat, who remained unbeaten on 79 from 47 balls, guided the team to a comfortable win.
This win against India A comes after a challenging phase for Pakistani cricket, where the senior national team had lost three consecutive matches to India in the Asia Cup earlier this year.
While Naqvi’s public praise was widely welcomed by fans, some netizens on social media noted that his exuberant reaction may also be driven by a desire to restore image and morale after recent losses against India at the senior level in both men's and women’s cricket.
