Over the last six months since Mohammad Rizwan took over the reign, he has been trolled on umpteen occasions over his English. His inability to express himself clearly in a foreign language has been a major topic of discussion on the internet.
However, Rizwan has none of that and has, in fact, hit out at the trolls, stating that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) only demands cricket from him, not English.
“At the moment, Pakistan is demanding cricket from me. Pakistan is not demanding English from me. When it does, I will leave cricket and become a professor — but I don't have that much time,” Rizwan said ahead of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025.
“The demand from me is cricket, not English. There is a regret that I did not complete my education, which is why I struggle in speaking English. I tell my juniors to complete their education so that they are able to speak good English,” Rizwan said.
The Multan Sultans’ skipper also reckoned that there’s a small bit of regret that he couldn’t get enough education. However, having said that, he revealed that he’s not even 1% ashamed that he can’t speak English.
“I don’t care. I am proud of one thing, and that is whatever I say, I say from my heart. I don’t know English. My only regret is that I did not get enough education, but I am not even one per cent ashamed that I can’t speak English despite being the captain of the Pakistan cricket team,” Rizwan added.
Multan Sultans kick off their PSL 2025 season against Karachi Kings on Saturday (April 13).
