PCB Suspends Star Cricketer After Criminal Investigation Begins In UK Over Sexual Molestation Allegations

Batter Haider Ali was arrested but later released on bail in the UK

Pakistani young batter Haider Ali, who was on tour to England along with the Pakistan Shaheens, is in big trouble in the United Kingdom (UK) after an alleged case of sexual molestation was filed against him, and a criminal investigation was initiated.

He was taken into custody and questioned by the Greater Manchester Police, and until the enquiry is ongoing, he has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as well.

The PCB, in a statement, acknowledged the case and pledged to help Haider with “appropriate legal support to protect his rights”.

“The PCB has been made aware of a criminal investigation currently being conducted by the Greater Manchester Police involving cricketer Haider Ali," the PCB said.

"The investigation pertains to an incident that reportedly occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens' recent tour of England. The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course.

“Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation. Once the legal proceedings are concluded and all facts have been duly established, the PCB reserves the right to take appropriate action under its Code of Conduct, if necessary."

Haider Ali, 24, has played two ODIs and 35 T20Is for Pakistan so far and was a senior member of the Shaheens side that was touring England.
