Escalating tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7 have impacted Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in Pakistan.
As per reports in ESPNCricinfo, the game between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi in Rawalpindi, which was scheduled for today, May 8, has been postponed after a drone fell in the Rawalpindi Stadium Complex.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement that they will be reviewing the situation and will provide further updates. An emergency meeting was held in Islamabad on Thursday, which included the PCB Chairman and Internal Minister of Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi and the foreign players.
According to multiple government and media sources in Pakistan, Indian drones fell in several locations in the country. Meanwhile, the Indian armed forces also released a statement where they said they had to fire drones in response to Pakistan's attempts to engage multiple military targets in India.
As of now, it’s not clear where the matches are being rescheduled to, but according to some reports, Karachi seems to be the likely option despite a drone falling there as well. Meanwhile, the foreign players are advocating for the remaining games (eight, including four in Rawalpindi, one in Multan, and three in Lahore), including the final in Lahore, to be shifted to Dubai.
The Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) has also been in touch with the foreign cricketers in the PSL. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have also said that they are in touch with Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana, the two Bangladeshis in PSL at the moment, and are also in talks with authorities to facilitate their departure from Pakistan.
