RCB would be a pleased franchise, as their star opener Phil Salt continued his stellar form with a quick-fire half-century against Southern Brave, on August 6 (Thursday) in The Hundred 2025. Salt, who leads the Manchester Originals, smashed a 35-ball half-century in the franchise’s first clash.
Salt was one of RCB’s most important components in their IPL 2025 victory, with the English opener smashing 403 runs in the season, striking at 175.98. The 28-year-old then continued that same form in the Vitality T20 blast, with scores of 80, 44, 21, 38, 2, 42 and 18.
But come The Hundred 2025 season, the right-hander has started with a bang, with three fours and two sixes in the opening clash en route to his half-century. Meanwhile, it wasn’t that fruitful of a night for Jos Buttler, who could only get 22 off 18 balls before succumbing to Tymal Mills.
Like Buttler, Salt also got out to Mills, as the left-arm pacer got his revenge, but the damage was already done, with the RCB opener scoring 60 off 41 balls. Not just that, he also became the highest run-scorer in The Hundred's history.
