Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s Shahbaz Ahmed made bold claims about the pitch of the Eden Gardens, the stadium where his team will be up against hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 8 (Tuesday), in match 21 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
“Looking at this pitch, it seems that the ball will stop. There is hope for runs. It will be helpful for the spinners,” he said in the pre-match press conference on Monday.
The left-arm spinner and more than a handy batter, also said that the bowling woes for his side now seem to be over.
“If four bowlers (Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan) are injured and are not available, then there is a concern... All those things have settled down. Akash is available. Avesh is also available. Mayank, I hope, will be available soon,” the 30-year-old added.
KKR believe that they can be in the game with early scalps, like what they did against SRH in their last game.
“The key is to take wickets with the new ball, which we did (against SRH). Both Vaibhav and Harshit have done very well,” Otis Gibson, KKR’s assistant coach said in the presser.
