The West Indies have announced their squad for the upcoming three T20Is against England and Ireland, and there are a few big surprises in the squad.
To begin with, swashbuckling batter Nicholas Pooran had opted out of the tour after playing the full Indian Premier League (IPL) season for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
However, in what is a piece of welcome news for Windies supporters, big all-rounders Jason Holder and Andre Russell are making their much-anticipated return to the side in the England T20Is. While Holder will feature in both the England and Ireland series, Russell will play only the England games.
The other big returnee to the side is Gujarat Titans batter Sherfane Rutherford. Meanwhile, the side will be captained by Shai Hope, who has replaced Rovman Powell as the skipper after the latter faced a 0-3 defeat at home against Bangladesh.
Many senior Windies players will be departing after the England series, including Test skipper Roston Chase, as Australia are due to tour the Windies right after.
