Prabhsimran Singh has transformed himself into a different beast in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. During the Qualifier 1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Mullanpur on May 29 (Thursday), he became only the fifth Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter to have a 500-run season.
KL Rahul (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) has done it on four occasions, while Shaun Marsh (2008, 2011) has breached the 500-run mark in a season twice. Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell (2014) and Shreyas Iyer (2025) have achieved this feat once.
This is Prabhsimran’s seventh IPL season, and he had not even crossed the 400-run mark before this edition. Before tonight, Prabhsimran had 499 runs in 14 games at an average of 35.64 and a strike rate of 165.8.
Prabhsimran scored 18 off 10 in Qualifier 1, hitting two fours and a six before falling to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. This is the fifth time he has been dismissed by Bhuvneshwar in T20s. Moreover, Prabhsimran averages just 13.6 against the seamer.
