The BCCI have confirmed that Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna has been added to the India squad for the fourth Test at The Oval, starting September 2nd. The 25-year-old tearaway, who made his international debut earlier this year against England, traveled to the United Kingdom as a standby player but now has been added to the senior squad for the fourth Test ‘based on the request of the team management.’
Prasidh has played 9 first-class matches and has taken 34 wickets at a remarkable average of 20.26. The 25-year-old, however, has not played any red-ball cricket in over a year, with his last appearance coming in the 2020/21 Ranji Trophy against Bengal in March 2020. The 2019/20 edition of the Ranji Trophy, in which Karnataka made the semi-final, proved to be a fruitful one for Prasidh, who picked 14 wickets in 3 games at an average of 17.00 and SR of 33.2.
