Prasidh Krishna ruled out of IPL 2023

The fast bowler suffered a lumbar stress fracture, for which he underwent a surgery recently

Fast bowler Prasidh Kirishna has been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have confirmed. Prasidh suffered a lumbar stress fracture, for which he underwent a surgery recently. RR, who finished runners-up last year, are looking for a replacement for the Karnataka pacer.

"Our coaching staff has been actively identifying and developing pacers from our trials and preparatory camps, as we work towards a decision on Prasidh's replacement," a release from RR said.

Prasidh finished as RR's second highest wicket-taker last season, behind Yuzvendra Chahal, picking up 19 wickets at an economy rate of 8.28. The franchise procured his services for a whooping INR 10 crore, from a base price of INR 1 crore, after fighting off competition from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The India pacer has not played any competitive cricket since the One-Day International (ODI) series against Zimbabwe in August last year, where he picked up four wickets in two games. He played a part in the ODI series against West Indies and also England before that.

He has also represented Kolkata Knight Riders previously, playing for them between 2018 and 2021. He picked up 30 wickets for the franchise in 34 matches. Since making his ODI debut for India in 2021, Prasidh has gone on to pick up 25 wickets from 14 matches. He finished with figures of 4 for 54 in his first match, which are the best bowling figures for an Indian on ODI debut.
