Pretorius tests positive for Covid-19; Mulder added to squad

South Africa''s assistant coach Enoch Nkwe, who missed the Tests on family responsibility leave, has also returned to the side

South Africa allrounder Dwaine Pretorius will not travel to Grenada for their five-match series against the West Indies after testing positive for Covid-19. He is asymptomatic and is following stipulated protocols on recovery but a return to play for the upcoming series seems way too far-fetched. Thus, Cricket South Africa have added Mulder, who played one T20I for South Africa against Pakistan in April, to the squad. They have another option in Andile Phehlukwayo who can double up as a sem-bowling all-rounder.

The entire South African contingent have travelled from St Lucia to Grenada and all have returned negative tests for Covid-19. Temba Bavuma, who missed the Test series due to injury, is expected to lead the side in the T20I series after recovering from a hip injury.

South Africa''s assistant coach Enoch Nkwe, who missed the Tests on family responsibility leave, has also returned to the side as Mandla Mashimbyi, the head coach of Northerns, who stood in for Nkwe has returned to South Africa.

South Africa T20I squad: Temba Bavuma (capt), Quinton de Kock (wk), Bjorn Fortuin, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, George Linde, Sisanda Magala, Janneman Malan, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi , Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne, Lizaad Williams
