Prithvi Shaw admitted to Mumbai hospital due to high fever; COVID tests are negative

The opening batter missed Delhi's last encounter against Sunrisers and is set to miss Sunday's clash against Chennai as well

Delhi Capitals opening batter, Prithvi Shaw, was admitted to a city hospital on Sunday due to high fever, and the results of the 22-year old's Covid Test have come negative.

"Prithvi is currently recovering well in a Mumbai hospital. He had to be admitted as he was running high temperature but his RT-PCR test turned out to be negative.

"The hospital where he has been admitted is a non-COVID one," a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

The swashbuckling opener put out a message on his social media account thanking the fans for their prayers and support.

"Admitted to hospital and recovering from fever. Thank you all for your good wishes. Will be back in action soon," Shaw posted.

Earlier on Sunday, the Delhi Capitals side were put in isolation after a net bowler tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the game against Chennai Super Kings.

Despite the positive case, the match will commence as per schedule.
