NEWSThe Pakistan Super League (PSL) resumed after a nine-month hiatus with a playoff match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultan in Karachi. It was an emotional day for those associated with PSL as the former Australia batsman passed away in a Mumbai hotel earlier this year. Jones was in the commentary team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 and suffered a cardiac arrest in his hotel. The PSL players, coach and umpires paid tribute to Jones, by forming a D shape when they took field with ‘Forever in Our Hearts, Deano…’ flashing on a giant LED screen.

Jones had led Islamabad United to a couple of titles – in 2016 and 2018 – and took Karachi Kings to second place in the table, which enabled them to qualify for the playoff stage.
Jones played 52 Tests and 164 One-Day Internationals (OD) for Australia and was also part of the World Cup winning side in 1987.
He was given a farewell at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in a private funeral attended by close family and friends, with the hearse donning the number 324 (his Test cap), taking him around the ground.
“We have been deeply moved by the outpouring of love for Dean over the last week and can’t thank everyone enough for their support and for sharing their memories with us,” Jane, Jones’ wife, had said.
