Puducherry set to host Deodhar Trophy 2023-2024
With the ODI World Cup later this year, BCCI has introduced the fifty-over zonal competition for the first time since 2019
After two riveting months of the Indian Premier League, the local players are set to be back on the field as the Indian domestic season is all set to kickstart on June 28 with the prestigious Duleep Trophy.
The multi-day tournament is slated to be played between June 28 to July 16 in Bengaluru among six zones. The finalists of the last season, South and West Zone, will directly play in the semi-finals while the remaining four teams will battle it out in the two quarter-finals.
"All Zonal Convenors are requested to conduct their respective selection committee meetings and submit the squad, including players and support staff, as per the above guidelines on or before Thursday," states the communication from Abey Kuruvilla, BCCI GM of Game Development, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also looking at a window tentatively around July 24 to August 3 for the fifty-over Deodhar Trophy to be played in Puducherry,
The tournament was last played in 2019 and has been re-introduced in the domestic calendar, considering the ODI World Cup will be played in India later this year.
