Put in a lot of work on my bowling during pre-season with Victoria: Glenn Maxwell

The Australian all-rounder struck a fifty and then returned with a couple of crucial wickets with the ball against MI

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, starred with both bat and ball in his side's comprehensive 54-run win. Chasing 166, MI were bundled out for just 111, with Harshal Patel claiming four wickets, including a hat-trick.

Maxwell followed up his 37-ball 56 with 2 for 23 with the ball - a spell that included the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya. Maxwell attributed his bowling to the fact that he had put in a full pre-season with his state Victoria prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

"It was a nice day. We pretty much did everything right tonight (Sunday). Virat and KS (Srikar Bharat) got us through the powerplay and set a platform for us...I wanted to cash in (by) hitting to the shorter side with the wind going that way as well," Maxwell said.

"To be able to have a full pre-season with my stateside Victoria, I put in a lot of work on my bowling and starting to see the rewards now," he added.

This is the first time RCB were able to do a double over MI in IPL. With this win, RCB have accumulated 12 points from 10 matches, while MI are in deep trouble having picked up just eight points from 10 matches and currently lie in the seventh position.

MI will hope to get their campaign back on track when they take against Punjab Kins (PBKS) next. While RCB will look to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next game and put one foot in the playoffs.
