Rahul Dravid set to travel with Indian team for Sri Lanka tour as coach - Reports

Dravid had worked with the senior Indian team once in 2014 as the batting consultant

With Ravi Shastri and his group of support staff set to be in England for the World Test Championship and the England series, Rahul Dravid has been asked by the BCCI to accompany the white-ball team that will tour Sri Lanka in July. The BCCI have already indicated that no member of the England series will be a part of the Sri Lanka leg, with Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in line to lead the LoI side.

According to ANI, Rahul Dravid has already been informed about the decision. "The Team India coaching staff will be in the UK and it is best that the young team is guided by Dravid as he has already worked with almost all of the India 'A' boys. The comfort the youngsters share with him will be an added advantage," the official said.

Dravid had worked with the senior Indian team once in 2014 as the batting consultant but since working with the A-team, U19 set-up as well as the National Cricket Academy. Currently, he is the director at NCA.

The Indian team for the Sri Lanka series will have to undergo quarantine in Sri Lanka before playing the three ODI and three T20I games. The three ODIs will be played on July 13, 16, 19 and the T20Is are expected to be played from July 22-27 according to the tentative schedule announced by the board.
