Rahul will miss England tour due to groin injury : Jay Shah

Not only will Rahul miss the rescheduled fifth Test against England, but he will also miss the six white-ball matches in the tour

India will miss the services of KL Rahul in England after the opener suffered a groin injury that would require him to travel to Germany for treatment. Rahul was recently ruled out of the series against South Africa, against whom he was supposed to lead the side. In his absence, Rishabh Pant is currently leading India in the five-match series.

"That is correct, the board is working on his fitness and he will be going to Germany soon," BCCI secretary Jay Shah told Cricbuzz on Thursday (June 16).

Not only will Rahul miss the rescheduled fifth Test against England, the series in which India are leading 2-1, but he will also miss the six white-ball matches. He was named the vice-captain of the side for the series with Rohit Sharma leading the boys.

While the Test specialists have left for England on Thursday morning, Rohit Sharma will fly out in a week. With Mayank Agarwal not being named in the side, in all probability, Shubman Gill will open with the Indian skipper as the side aim to win their first Test series in England after 15 years.
