It seemed that Shimron Hetmyer of the Rajasthan Royals finally found his form after his two match-winning half-centuries in Major League Cricket (MLC). Following that, he hit two thirties and a fifty against Australia and during the Global Super League combined.
But in the biggest stage of them all, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), he scored a two-ball duck on his maiden appearance.
Playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the 29-year-old was cleaned up by Naseem Shah of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in match two of the CPL 2025. Despite Hetmyer’s failure, the Warriors won the match easily, chasing down 154 with five wickets in hand and 16 balls to spare.
Hetmyer, who was retained for INR 11 Cr ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, was unable to make an impact in the IPL 2025. He scored only 239 runs in 14 matches at a dismal average of 21 and just one fifty to his name.
The Guyanese batter has an entire season to improve his showing, and he would be looking to do that in the upcoming matches.
