After signing Glenn Phillips and Tabraiz Shamsi earlier this month, the 2008 IPL winners Rajasthan Royals announced that they have captured the services of Evin Lewis and Oshane Thomas. The duo come into the setup as replacements for English all-rounder Ben Stokes and pacer Jofra Archer.
Stokes, earlier this month, announced that he would take a mental health break from the sport and subsequently missed the five-match Test series against India at home. On the other hand, Archer was earlier ruled out of the entire year, having failed to recover from his previous injury.
Royals’ move for Lewis and Thomas comes on the back of their performance for the Windies and in the Caribbean Premier League. Thomas, earlier represented the Royals, where he picked up five wickets for the franchise. On the other hand, Lewis last played for the Mumbai Indians, for whom he scored 430 runs in 16 appearances.
Still in fifth place, the Royals have a chance at making it to the playoffs, with their strengthened squad ahead of the resumption of the tournament.
