Rajasthan Royals’ x-factor seamer Sandeep Sharma has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 with a fractured finger, on May 1 (Thursday). The speedster played the franchise’s last IPL clash against Gujarat Titans, where he hurt his finger trying to field off his bowling.
"He showed immense bravery to continue bowling with this injury in the last match and everyone at the franchise wishes him a full and speedy recovery," a Royals release said.
Sandeep, however, completed his quota, bowling the last eight deliveries of his spell. While that might have given the Royals a sliver of hope, the 31-year-old is now ruled out of the edition. Before his injury, the pacer picked up 10 wickets in the season, at an economy of 9.89.
The Royals had to replace him in the starting XI with Akash Madhwal, who is making his IPL debut for the franchise against Mumbai Indians on May 1 (Thursday). The Riyan Parag-led team is yet to name a replacement for the speedster.
