Chasing 361, a lot of Rest of India’s hopes were on the shoulders of Rajat Patidar and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Irani Cup 2025 against Vidarbha, on October 5 (Sunday). However, things went horribly wrong for the duo, as the RCB skipper could only manage ten runs in the innings.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad, who replaced him at the crease, continued his red-ball slump, with a 19-ball seven, as Darshan Nalkande got the CSK skipper. It was a second straight failure for the CSK skipper, after he could only score nine runs in the first innings before his stay was cut short.
Abhimanyu Easwaran, who started strongly, couldn’t make a difference either for Rest of India, scoring 17 off 18 balls. Ishan Kishan was the only top-order batter who had some sort of impact on the game, as the left-handed batter scored 35 off 65.
Eventually, it was his SRH teammate, Harsh Dubey, who had the last laugh as the left-arm spinner got Kishan, leaving Rest of India reeling at 80/5. While Yash Dhull (29*) and Saransh Jain (29) had a brief 53-run partnership, Rekhade broke the partnership, removing Jain.
At the time of writing this report, Rest of India still need 222 runs to complete an incredible win, but Vidarbha just need four wickets.
