Ramiz Raja confident of conducting Women's PSL in January 2023
PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said that the Women's PSL will go ahead despite the uncertainty surrounding other things
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has no doubts that the Women's Pakistan Super League will be conducted in January, 2023 as per plans. In May, PCB announced that a four-team competition will be held alongside the men's competition.
When asked about the doubts lingering over his tenure as the PCB chief and the Women's PSL, Raja replied: "Who’ll stop Women’s PSL?"
"You can have difference of opinions in terms of the coaches and the selections but a project like Women’s PSL is a long term one and won’t be affected by who the chairman of PCB is," Raja said at a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday.
"We have a base and we are planning to launch a Pakistan Super League (PSL) for women in January next year with foreign players and also working on having a PSL for under-19 players in October this year," he added.
After Shehbaz Sharif took over as Pakistan's Prime Minister from Imran Khan, Raja's position in the board has come under doubt. But Raja is confident that he will continue in his role.
"The uncertainty is for you all [media], I know from within the board that nothing would happen," the 59-year old said.
