England’s first-choice spinner Adil Rashid marks a return after his pilgrimage break as England name a strong squad for the three-match T20I and ODI series against South Africa. Alongside Rashid, Jonny Bairstow too makes a return to the T20I setup after he was rested earlier in the summer during the three-match series against India.

Ben Stokes, who did not feature in the T20I setup against India will be rested for the T20I series against South Africa too. The Durham all-rounder will also miss The Hundred as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), stated that it is part of managing his workload and fitness. Fellow Durham man, Matthew Potts will be part of the ODI setup after impressing the selectors in the red-ball format.
Rashid, who missed the India series to make the Hajj pilgrimage to Hajj makes a return to the setup as Matt Parkinson misses out. Richard Gleeson, who was impressive in the T20I series against India continues to find a place in the squad.
