Afghanistan star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has broken yet another record to establish himself amongst the pantheon of greats in T20I cricket. He reached this milestone against the UAE in the ongoing Tri-series involving Pakistan, his 98th game in the format.
Rashid now has 165 wickets in 98 games at an average of just 13.8 and an economy of 6.1. He went past Tim Southee, who had 164 wickets in 123 innings in the format.
Rashid, who’s also the Afghanistan skipper in T20I cricket, bowled a brilliant spell against the UAE at Sharjah on Monday, September 1, where he picked three wickets of the home side for just 21 runs and helped his side win the game by 38 runs.
The 26-year-old is already the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket, where he has picked 664 wickets in 489 matches that he has played. He has also played international T20s against as many as 18 teams, which validates his reputation as a globetrotting performer.
