Ratra appointed Delhi Capitals assistant coach

DC kick off their campaign in 2021 against CSK in Mumbai on April 10.

Delhi Capitals (DC) have roped in former India wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra as their assistant coach for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Ratra will have the likes of Ricky Ponting, Mohammad Kaif, Pravin Amre and James Hopes to work with. Ratra has coached the Punjab state team and has also worked with the Indian Women's team as their fielding and wicketkeeping coach during camps.

Speaking of his appointment, Ratra said, "I am honoured to join Delhi Capitals as Assistant Coach. This is a very exciting team to work with, abundant with talent. I can't wait to meet the team and contribute to its success. I am grateful to the Delhi Capitals management for giving me this wonderful opportunity."

DC CEO Vinod Bisht said, "We would like to welcome Ajay Ratra to the Delhi Capitals family. His experience, as a player and coach will be invaluable, as we look to take the franchise from strength to strength. We are excited to have him on board, and wish him all the very best for the upcoming season."

Ratra created history when he became the youngest wicketkeeper to score a century and only the second 'keeper to score a ton overseas, when he scored an unbeaten 115 against West Indies at St. John's in 2002.

The IPL 2020 finalists kick off their campaign in 2021 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mumbai on April 10.
