NEWSRavi Shastri has decided to delay his return to the commentary box as he hasn't been listed among the commentators for the home series against West Indies. Sunil Gavaskar, L Sivaramakrishnan, Harsha Bhogle, Murali Kartik, Deep Dasgupta, and Ajit Agarkar are the six Indians who will call the three ODIs with Ian Bishop joining them in Ahmedabad. Sivaramakrishnan will not be there for the three T20Is in Kolkata.
The Times of India reported that Shastri., whose tenure as the coach of the Indian team ended in November last year, is currently in Oman as the commissioner of Legends Cricket League in Muscat and is enjoying a bit of downtime in the process. Sources close to him have revealed that the former Indian all-rounder will not do commentary for the next home series, against Sri Lanka in February-March but may return to the box during the IPL.
“He has taken a conscious decision not to take up commentary immediately, at least till the IPL. He has a lot on the table and for two more months, he will remain busy. He will think over it after that,” said a source close to him.
India are slated to take on Windies in three ODIs and three T20Is before Sri Lanka arrive for two Tests and three T20Is.
