Ravindra Jadeja Creates History After Breaking Near-Impossible Record

Jadeja now registered the record for having the longest streak as the number one ranked Test all-rounder

Ravindra Jadeja, who maintained his top spot in the ICC Men’s Test all-rounder ranking, has created a record that most would have thought impossible. The Indian spin all-rounder has been at the top for 1,151 consecutive days, which is the longest streak as the number one Test all-rounder in Test cricket history. Jadeja has achieved a feat which isn't even completed by Test all-round greats like Jacques Kallis, Kapil Dev or Imran Khan

Jadeja first became the top Test all-rounder on March 9, 2022, after he displaced West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder as the numero uno. Since then, he has maintained his position, and now, he has a rating of 400 points.

Jadeja has been at the forefront of many Indian Test match victories in the last 13 years since he made his Test debut in 2012 in Nagpur. Since then, he has played 80 Tests for India and has 3370 runs at a very good average of 34.64 with four centuries to his name.

With the ball, Jadeja has been one of the best spinners of the modern game, along with R Ashwin, and has collected 323 Test wickets at an average of just 24.14 and has 15 five-wicket hauls in his kitty. He was also recently a part of the ICC Test Team of the Year in 2024.

After the retirement of Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin and Virat Kohli from Test cricket, Jadeja is one of the senior most members of the side and will have a crucial role to play with both the bat and ball in England, where India will be playing a five Test series right after the completion of the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League which is restarting from May 17.
