After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off to a good start in the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), conceding just 16 off the first two overs.
However, the good start soon turned into a bad one in a matter of balls as RCB took 19 off the third over of the innings bowled by Khaleel Ahmed.
At 35/0 in 3 overs, then, RCB were on the front-foot, but things would end up going from bad to worse for CSK in the fourth over of the innings.
Anshul Kamboj began with 4 1 0 1 off the first four balls of the fifth over, and Kamboj created a chance on the fifth ball when Jacob Bethell, who was looking in sublime touch, miscued a flick and skied one straight up in the air towards deep square leg.
The ball was headed towards Ravindra Jadeja, who looked like he would complete an easy catch, and Jadeja actually ended up pouching the ball. However, just when CSK thought they had their first wicket, Matheesha Pathirana, out of nowhere, having his eyes exclusively on the ball, ran from third man, barging into Jadeja.
The end result was that Jadeja, who had the ball completely under control, ended up spilling it.
Pathirana immediately went out of the ground due to the collision, but that did not stop Jadeja from 'fuming' at the young Sri Lankan. A frustrated Jadeja threw a tantrum at Pathirana and was frustrated with him for ruining an easy catch.
The Sri Lankan speedster stayed down for a good few minutes before eventually walking off the field. Bethell ended up getting a life, and he and RCB made the most of it as the hosts ended the powerplay on 71/0.
