Ravindra Jadeja Joins Kapil Dev In THIS Special List
The spinner finished with three wickets in the first ODI against England to reach the rare milestone
Ravindra Jadeja became only the fifth Indian to pick up 600 wickets in international cricket. He achieved this feat with the wicket of Adil Rashid in the first One-Day International (ODI) against England in Nagpur.
In doing so, he also became the second Indian to achieve the feat of 6,000 runs and 600 wickets in ODIs after Kapil Dev. Jadeja has 6,641 runs, while Kapil has 9,031 runs. Overall, Jadeja is the sixth to achieve this unique double in ODI cricket after Kapil, Wasim Akram, Shakib Al Hasan, Daniel Vettori and Shaun Pollock.
The other Indian cricketers to pick up 600 wickets or more across formats are Anil Kumble (953), Ravichandran Ashwin (765), Harbhajan Singh (707) and Kapil Dev (687). Jadeja is the only active cricketer among the top five.
Overall, Jadeja has 323 Test wickets, 223 scalps in ODIs and 54 wickets in T20Is. He retired from T20Is following India's win in the T20 World Cup 2024, along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He made his debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2009.
