Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar’s time at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) well and truly could have come to a close, with reports suggesting that the franchise have parted ways with the duo. The duo were the side's Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach, respectively, and Hesson was a key figure behind some of the top decisions taken by the franchise.
Under Hesson, the franchise reached the playoffs every season before IPL 2023, where they succumbed to a determined Gujarat Titans' side on the last day to get knocked out. Bangar was the franchise’s batting coach and had a significant role in shaping the franchise over the last few years, including sharing a great rapport with former skipper Virat Kohli.
According to reports from Indian Express, the franchise is on the lookout for a new face to spearhead the coaching unit, while there isn’t anything clear yet on their bowling coach, Adam Griffith. There is no clarity over RCB's fielding coach, Malolan Rangarajan and spin bowling coach, Sridharan Sriram either. Earlier in the week, Lucknow Super Giants removed Andy Flower as the head coach, replacing him with Justin Langer.
While some reports suggest Flower could stand in contention to become the franchise’s head coach, Indian Express reported that the former Zimbabwe player is already in talks with other franchises.
