The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stars Jacob Bethell and Liam Livingstone tried their best, scoring 46 (31) and 48 (23) respectively for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred 2025 match against Northern Superchargers on August 15 (Friday).
However, it was not enough as their team could only muster 157/9 in 100 balls, chasing 194 to win.
The duo added 80 in 42 balls and gave Phoenix a real shot at the target, as they needed 86 in the remaining 40 balls to clinch their second win of the season. However, as it turned out, none of the remaining Phoenix batters could take the attack to the opposition.
They were eventually reduced to 157/9, losing the match by 36 runs. Adil Rashid, a former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Matthew Potts were the wreckers in chief with two and three wickets each.
Earlier, England Test heroes Zak Crawley and Harry Brook were in brilliant form as well, hitting 23-ball 45 and 14-ball 31 respectively to combine with former PBKS and England batter Dawid Malan’s 58 off 34 balls.
This was the third loss in four games for the Phoenix while the Superchargers achieved their third win in as many matches.
