In just his second IPL appearance, England all-rounder Jacob Bethell joined a rare tournament record, smashing a 28-ball half-century against Chennai Super Kings on May 3 (Saturday). The all-rounder joined an all-time IPL list, becoming the third-youngest overseas player to score an IPL fifty.
Bethell only made his IPL debut a few days ago, replacing the ‘ill’ Phil Salt in the clash against Delhi Capitals. In his first innings, the left-hander showed signs of great bat swing, smashing a six and four off premier pacer Mitchell Starc’s bowling.
But come the clash against CSK, the left-hander showed a great range of shots, smashing three boundaries in the first over against Khaleel Ahmed. He didn’t spare the left-arm pacer in the next over, with a huge six, carrying on his form. But it was in Noor Ahmad’s over where the left-hander smashed an absolute biggie, with a 99-metre six.
