When Liam Livingstone had an indifferent IPL 2025, there were doubts over his future in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) jersey. But the INR 8.75 crore star put those doubts to rest, with a sizzling all-round display against Oval Invincibles, on August 12 (Tuesday) in the ongoing The Hundred.
Livingstone didn’t have the greatest of starts to the season, with scores of 39 and 12, but turned that form around on Tuesday. The all-rounder first removed opposition skipper Sam Billings after the latter had scored 17 off 9 balls. But his biggest contribution came with the bat, when he smashed a 27-ball 69, besting Donovan Ferreira’s efforts from earlier in the night.
The RCB all-rounder walked in at 73/2, smoked five sixes and smashed seven fours en route to 69, striking at 255.56, helping the Birmingham Phoenix turn their form around. Like at the IPL, Livingstone took on Rashid Khan, smashing him for six boundaries, including hitting five consecutive boundaries, and taking 26 runs off that set.
58 of his 69 runs came in boundaries, as the Phoenix chased down 182 with relative ease, with two balls to spare in one of the highest run-chases in the competition’s history. Livingstone has certainly turned his form around, and a retention is just around the corner.
