Pakistan defeated Bangladesh comprehensively by seven wickets as they started off the Super 4s in fine fashion. The home crowd at Lahore wasn’t there in big numbers to enjoy their bowling due to the immense heat but despite that, Haris Rauf led the Pakistan attack with the ball by picking up 4 wickets, and was awarded The Player of the Match for his performance.
“It was hot out there, but I've played a lot of cricket here. I play PSL for Lahore, the crowd always expects us to perform here”, Rauf said during the post-match presentation.
His familiarity with the conditions was evident as he also remarked on what was the right length to bowl on this ground.
“Before any game, we do plan as a bowling unit. We talk about bowling to different plans based on the game phase. Hard length was tough to play here, and the plan was to keep bowling stump to stump. Didn't need to go to the yorker today.”
Rauf, however, isn’t content with just a four-fer, as he expressed his aspirations very clearly.
“I keep working hard and I have high goals for myself, I want to be the Player of the Series in this Asia Cup.”
The Men in Green meet India next on the 10th of September in Colombo, as skipper Babar Azam promised that his team will give their 100% in the next game.
