Delhi Capitals (DC) released some big guns ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction. Their retentions include Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland, and Niki Prasad. DC will go into the auction with the lowest purse, with just INR 5.70 crore remaining and can add a maximum of 13 more players.
The three-time WPL finalists let go of perhaps the biggest overseas star, Meg Lanning, and also one of the best all-rounders in the WPL, Jess Jonassen, who's picked up 33 wickets and scored 295 runs in the competition. In what's the latest development, however, Jonassen has pulled out of the auction due to an injury.
The all-rounder informed the WPL franchises of her unavailability at the pre-auction briefing on November 26 (Wednesday). The 33-year-old picked up 13 wickets in WPL 2025 and slammed 150 runs at a strike rate of 145.63 in WPL 2025 to guide DC to the final once again.
The WPL 2026 auction will take place in Delhi on November 27 (Thursday) from 3.30 PM onwards.
