The phrase ‘remember the name’ was made famous by West Indian commentator Ian Bishop during the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 between his side and England. Turns out, nine years later in 2025, it is a commentator from the opposing side of that final, England, that has made the phrase even more famous.
Nasser Hussain, a former England captain and ace commentator, had made a post back in 2018 where he had shared a picture of himself with young Jemimah Rodriguez with the caption, “Remember the name… Jemimah Rodriguez…did some throwdowns with her today…she is going to be a star for India.”

While the post was made more than seven years ago, it garnered huge popularity on the internet on October 30 after Rodriguez guided India women’s team to the final of the home World Cup (Women’s ODI World Cup 2025), by scoring a century in a record chase of 339 against six-time champions Australia.
Rodriguez, now 25, was back then just a teenager of 17 years and had big dreams of representing India. From that moment to becoming a hero for India, she became a star. Hussain was praised for identifying talent so soon.
In the semi-final match, Rodriguez, batting at number three, had a superb partnership of 167-runs with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. She hit unbeaten 127 and thanked god for keeping her at the crease when she was tired to the core. Tears rolled down her cheek as she quoted from the bible, “Stand still and god will fight for you.”
