Report: India set to play one Test in England in 2022
NEWSReports have suggested that India could play one Test in Manchester next year
India’s five-match Test series against England ended abruptly, owing to the COVID-19 situation within the visitors’ camp. In the wake of the events, ECB’s CEO Tom Harrison suggested that England could play one Test against India next year in Manchester to recover the losses.
On Saturday (September 25), ESPNCricinfo reported that the two boards have agreed to play one Test in Manchester next year when India are in the country for their limited-overs series. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether the Test would be part of the five-match Test series or would be played as a one-off Test series.
India had the upper hand over England in the series, with a 2-1 lead, after their wins in Lord’s and Oval in the five-match series. The reports also suggested that there was earlier a discussion between the two boards about the possibility of playing two extra T20Is in the same tour. However, it is yet to be seen if the one-off Test comes as part of the five-match series or a one-off Test series.
