In what comes as troubling news for Punjab Kings (PBKS) towards the back end of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), skipper Shreyas Iyer is believed to have injured his finger in the lead-up to the clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.
Times of India reported that Iyer injured his finger during training on Saturday (May 17), and batted in the game against RR today despite being hindered by the injury.
Iyer walked in at No.5 and scored 30 off 25 balls, smashing five fours. He stitched together an important 67-run stand with Nehal Wadhera after PBKS won the toss and lost three early wickets.
After the end of the first innings, it was Iyer who was subbed out by the Kings, with Harpreet Brar coming in as the impact substitute.
In Iyer’s absence, it was Shashank Singh who marshalled the troops for the Kings. Shashank starred with the bat in the first innings, earlier, smashing an unbeaten 59 off just 30 balls.
