Rishabh Pant breaks into top five, becomes India's highest-ranked Test batter

Meanwhile, Joe Root attained his highest ranking points, while Jonny Bairstow breaks into the top 10 following their heroics in the Edgbaston Test vs India

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has attained career-best ranking in Tests, moving up five places to the fifth spot in the latest ICC rankings. Joe Root, meanwhile, has accumulated 923 ranking points - his highest-ever - following his match-winning century in the Edgbaston Test, 44 points ahead of Marnus Labuschagne at second.

Pant rescued India from a precarious position in the fifth Test against England, slamming a counter-attacking 146 in the first innings. He followed that up with 57 in the second. Jonny Bairstow who hit twin tons in the same game has moved up 11 places and has entered the top 10. 

Former India captain Virat Kohli, whose century drought continues, finds himself outside the top 10 and is currently at 13, while skipper Rohit Sharma drops a place to No. 9 in the rankings. 

James Anderson who picked up six wickets in the Test, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings has moved up one spot and is currently ranked sixth among bowlers, currently led by Australia captain Pat Cummins.

Ravindra Jadeja continues to remain the top-ranked all-rounder, after his third Test ton. He has also attained his career-best position (34) among batters as a result. 

Following a 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Galle, Cameron Green has moved to 30th position, following his player of the match-winning effort. Alex Carey and off-spinner Nathan Lyon too have made progress following their useful contribution in the Test. 

In T20Is, West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein moves up 10 places to career-best eighth after picking up a wicket in each of the T20Is against Bangladesh.
