Rishabh Pant’s 134 and 118 took him up to seventh place on the ICC’s latest Men's Test Batter Rankings, on June 25 (Wednesday). The left-hander’s captivating twin ton in the Headingley contest took him one ranking up, to seventh, his best-ever ranking in the Test format.
Meanwhile, England’s opening batter Ben Duckett, who scored 62 and 149, has also made a large move, jumping five places to eighth on the ICC Test rankings. However, he’s not the best-ranked English batter, with Joe Root still owning that No.1 spot, as Harry Brook’s 99 still keeps him second-ranked in Tests.
India’s new skipper, Shubman Gill, has moved five places to become the 20th-ranked batter in the longest format. In the bowling department, there’s no displacement at the top, as India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to be the top-ranked Test bowler, and deservedly so, after yet another five-wicket haul against England.
England skipper Ben Stokes, however, has made some progress in the all-rounders’ rankings, moving to fifth place.
