Good news for India as star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant successfully returned to training at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, on September 14 (Sunday). The wicketkeeper batter marked his first training session after his horrific foot fracture during India’s five-match Test series against England.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the wicketkeeper batter has been walking comfortably without the cast. India’s next Test assignment is a two-match Test series at home against West Indies, with the first Test on October 2 (Thursday) in Ahmedabad, and the second Test on October 10 (Friday) in Delhi.
Pant fractured his foot in the Old Trafford Test during the first innings, when he tried to reverse sweep Chris Woakes. The wicketkeeper batter later returned to bat in heroic circumstances, but Dhruv Jurel donned the gloves for the fifth Test at The Oval, with Narayan Jagadeesan acting as the back-up.
In case Pant doesn’t recover in time for the two-match Test series against West Indies, India are most likely to have the same two wicketkeepers in the squad - Jurel and Jagadeesan.
