NEWSKS Bharat smashed a six off the final delivery to help Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a seven-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dubai. Bharat stole the show with a magnificent unbeaten 52-ball 78 and Glenn Maxwell continued his good run of form, scoring 51 not out off 33 deliveries.
DC captain Rishabh Pant however was unhappy with his side's fielding performance, which included giving Maxwell a couple of reprieves early on.
"We know how important fielding is in T20s. If you field the way we did, you deserve to lose. We also lost too many wickets while batting. But we will have to field better next time, I guess," Pant said at the post-match presentation.
"It was difficult for the fast bowlers with the dew, but the fielding has to support the bowling unit. We are not feeling great because you want to win these kinds of matches," he added.
Despite this loss, DC finish top of the IPL 2021 table, with 20 points, while RCB finish third with 18, behind Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on net run-rate.
DC will take on CSK in Qualifier 1 on Sunday (October 10), while RCB will play the eliminator against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday (October 11).
