Keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will continue as Delhi Capitals' skipper for the remainder of IPL 2021 despite the return of regular captain Shreyas Iyer.
"JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals today announced that Rishabh Pant will continue as captain for the remainder of the IPL2021 season," an official statement confirmed on Thursday.
Under Pant, DC have won six of their eight games in the first phase of the tournament and are currently top of the table with 12 points.
Iyer, who had taken over captaincy from Gautam Gambhir during IPL 2018, was initially out of this year's IPL after suffering a dislocated shoulder in March. However, the league's suspension in May had helped him to recover in time for the second leg in UAE.
DC will resume their campaign on September 22 against bottom-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad.
