Rishabh Pant To Miss Home Test Series Against West Indies?
The wicketkeeper-batter suffered a toe fracture during the fourth Test against England in Manchester
India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is likely to miss the two-match home Test series against the West Indies in October, according to a report by the Times of India.
Pant suffered a toe fracture during the fourth Test against England in Manchester, after being struck on the right foot by a full delivery from Chris Woakes while attempting a reverse sweep. Subsequent scans confirmed the injury, ruling him out of action for at least six weeks.
“Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant won’t require surgery after a toe fracture during the fourth Test in Manchester. However, Pant has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks. He will miss the Asia Cup and possibly the West Indies series," the TOI report read.
Pant was in sensational form against England, slamming 479 runs in seven innings at an average of 68.42 and a strike rate nearing 80. The explosive left-hander notched up two centuries and three fifties in the first four Tests.
The injury ruled Pant out of the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, and he also won’t be available for selection in the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled for September.
In Pant’s absence, Dhruv Jurel, who filled in during the fifth Test against England, could continue as India’s first-choice wicketkeeper for the West Indies series. Narayan Jagadeesan, who was brought in as a back-up option, may also be retained in the squad depending on Pant's recovery progress.
Following the two-Test series against West Indies, India are set to host South Africa for another two-Test series in November.
