Rishabh Pant has had a horrific outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, and it was in the match between his team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 4 (Sunday) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, that his failure was personified in the most comical yet sad way possible for the batter.
Batting slowly once again, chasing 235 to win, Pant was 18 off 17, when, while playing the shot against Afghanistan pacer Azmatullah Omarzai, and lost grip on his willow's handle, the bat flew off his hands towards the leg side.
Although Pant has hit sixes on occasions when he would lose the bat, he would make great connections. But this season, it has not been his luck and after losing the bat, the southpaw also lost his wicket, getting caught by Shashank Singh on the off side.
So far this season, Pant has hit only one fifty, and that too came in a losing cause. The LSG captain, who was bought for INR 27 Cr, has been a complete failure with 128 runs in 11 innings at an average of 12.8 and a strike rate of 99.2, which has caused a lot of harm to his team.
