India defeated Pakistan by two runs as per the DLS method after rain curtailed the match in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first, but India got off to a flying start as opener Robin Uthappa smashed 28 off 11 balls, including three sixes and two fours, setting the tone early. His aggressive start was backed by Bharat Chipli, who added 24 off 13 deliveries in a brisk 42-run opening stand, but was out soon after.
Dinesh Karthik, the skipper of the Indian side, batted only six deliveries and scored 17 runs in them. He was lucky to score even this as he edged a six behind the keeper.
India’s innings ended at 86/4 in their allotted six overs, a modest total by Sixes standards, where three-figure scores are expected in six overs with only five outfielders allowed. However, it proved tricky under the rainy conditions.
When Pakistan began their reply, heavy rain intervened, and the match was halted after they were looking good at 41/1 in just three overs. The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) calculation was applied due to the rain, which ruled in India’s favour, handing them a win by 2 runs.
With the format being rapid-fire (six players per side, six overs each) and the rain factor creeping in, every boundary and big hit counted. India’s early assault proved decisive. The result gives India a crucial boost in Pool C of the tournament, where they are grouped with Pakistan and Kuwait.
